IBM Power Virtual Server, part of IBM Cloud, runs IBM i, AIX or Linux workloads on genuine Power hardware in IBM's own data centers. The buyer keeps the same operating system and licensing model as owned hardware, and drops the capital purchase, the floor space and the physical maintenance. It's billed on a subscription or consumption basis rather than a hardware line-item, which makes it a common entry option for a business that wants to run IBM i or test a Power workload before committing to owned hardware, or that simply prefers not to run its own data center at all. The tradeoff versus owned hardware is the same tradeoff as any cloud-vs-capital-purchase decision: lower upfront commitment and faster provisioning, against a recurring cost that can exceed owned hardware over a long enough time horizon. A reseller fielding an IBM Cloud question should confirm whether the buyer actually needs Power Virtual Server specifically (they want IBM i, AIX, or Power-native Linux) or is asking about IBM Cloud generally, which is a much broader product set.
